Thyroid Disease

Thyroid disease refers to conditions that prevent the butterfly-shaped neck gland from producing the right amount of hormones. It can cause either hypothyroidism (underactive or too little hormone) or hyperthyroidism (overactive or too much hormone).

Acute Medical Care

Your primary care provider or an endocrinologist will diagnose thyroid disease using a medical history, physical exam, and blood work (commonly the TSH test).
