For more than three decades, BHMC has been providing quality healthcare to the underserved in our community. Today, we offer comprehensive primary care for patients of all ages — whether you're uninsured or covered by Medicaid, Medicare, or private insurance. We're no longer called the “Free Clinic” — but our commitment to accessible, compassionate care hasn’t changed.
History Timeline
Major Exterior Renovations
Medicaid Expanded in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Began doing business as Brock Hughes Medical Center.
Moved to permanent location at 450 West Monroe Street, made possible by the Wythe-Bland Foundation.
Brock Hughes Free Clinic relocated to the Pine Street location.
Brock Hughes Free Clinic gained independent 501 c-3 status.
Brock Hughes Free Clinic relocated to the Edgemont Center Location.
The clinic begins at Wythe County Health Department with only volunteers.
